Join us Monday through Friday for the VCARES Morning Chat Net, a daily operational and training net focused on emergency communications readiness in Valencia County.

The Morning Chat Net gives local amateur radio operators an opportunity to check equipment, practice directed-net procedures, exercise alternate communications paths, share operational information, and build skills that may be useful during emergencies.

Net activities may include Questions of the Day, simplex and repeater exercises, PACE-plan practice, Winlink and digital communications, emergency-power discussions, formal message handling, situational-awareness updates, and other emergency-communications training.

Important: The net may occasionally move from the primary repeater as part of training or because of operating conditions. If you do not hear the net on Meadowlake, follow the VCARES Repeater PACE Plan and check the designated alternate, contingency, and emergency communications paths.

Operators may also participate by Winlink. Send a Winlink message to KI5MFF with your callsign, check-in, traffic, or response to the Question of the Day.

The purpose of the net is simple: practice routinely so emergency communications procedures are familiar before they are actually needed.

Licensed amateur radio operators interested in emergency communications are welcome to monitor and participate.
